It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of our colleague Ladislas Kubin, which occurred on October 18, 2022.

Scientific day in honour of François Ducastelle

A scientific day organised by the laboratory will be held on 11 July 2022 at the École des Mines de Paris in honour of François Ducastelle. The day will be a balance between scientific and memorial aspects combining past and present science, testimonies, and companionship throughout his long research career.

GDR-IRN HOWDI annual meeting

The meeting will be held in Dourdan (Paris area, France) on May 9-13 2022. Invited talks, tutorials, contributing talks, poster sessions, and social events are scheduled. Thesis prize : Étienne Carré

Congratulations to Étienne Carré for winning the ONERA 2021 thesis prize in the “Materials and Structures” field. This prize, awarded each year by senior ONERA researchers, aims to encourage future researchers on the path to excellence and to recognize remarkable work.

François Ducastelle passed away

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the sudden death of our colleague François Ducastelle, which happened on Friday 2 July 2021.François joined ONERA in 1965 as a trainee and was hired as junior scientist in 1968. Viviane Laut-Cothias passed away

Viviane Laut-Cothias, our executive assistant, was a person who gave the best of herself, with a constant desire to be useful to everyone. She was very careful with others and radiated great kindness. Her departure leaves a great void and a lot of sadness.

René Caudron passed away

René Caudron passed away on June 18, 2020. He spent his entire career at ONERA in the Materials Department and then at the Microstructures Study Laboratory until his retirement in 2003.

Georges Saada passed away

Georges Saada, Professor Emeritus of the University of Paris 13, Grande Médaille 2008 of the SF2M, passed away last Friday, August 30. George was 87 years old.
He was a member of the LEM since 1990.

2D Materials and their Heterostructures

This two-day meeting is aimed at local and European actors active in the growth of two-dimensional materials and their heterostructures. It aims to discuss common research strategies, at the University of Paris-Saclay and beyond, for the synthesis, characterization and valorization of heterostructures of 2D materials with controlled physical properties.
